HDMI 2.1a standard upgrade

The HDMI Licensing Administrator officially added a small but very practical upgrade to the HDMI 2.1a standard. The new data cable supports the "HDMI Cable Power" power supply capability.

With it, the active HDMI cable can draw more power from the source device, eliminating the need for an additional power cable. In other words, several meters of HDMI data cables no longer require an external power supply.

HDMI 2.1 data cable is actually very easy to make long, 5 meters is not a problem. But the longer the cable, the worse the signal stability, especially when the device is upgraded to support HDMI 2.1 and the transmission bandwidth reaches 48Gbps.

HDMI Cable Power comes for this purpose, which can strengthen the power supply of the source device and improve the stability of long-distance transmission.

For source devices that do not support this function, the data cable can optionally provide an additional Micro-B USB or Type-C USB interface.

However, it should be noted that it requires both the source device and the receiving end to support this function, and there are directional requirements. If the connection is reversed, it will not be damaged but cannot be used.
