Intel Arc A380 discrete graphics card debuts a new DP 2.0 interface

Although the Intel Arc A380 discrete graphics card has mediocre performance, it also has its own trump card, such as the first AV1 video format codec, such as the first DisplayPort 2.0 (DP 2.0 for short) output interface.

Lanji's Intel Arc A380 Photon is equipped with four output interfaces, including one HDMI 2.0 and three DP 2.0.

DP 2.0 is divided into three different grades: UHBR10, UHBR13.5, and UHBR20. The theoretical bandwidth of HBR10 is 40Gbps, and UHBR20 can reach full speed of 80Gbps, far exceeding HDMI 2.1 48Gbps.

The effective bandwidth of DP 2.0 UHBR10 is 38.69Gbps, even so, it is far more than DP 1.4 32.4Gbps, HDMI 2.0 18Gbps, and can output 8K60Hz HDR lossless pictures, or dual-screen 4K144Hz.

However, there is currently no DP 2.0 display device, so the new DP 2.0 interface can only run at the DP 1.4 specification for the time being, and the maximum output is 8K30Hz and 4K120Hz. But even this is ahead of HDMI 2.0 4K60Hz, even HDMI 2.1 is only up to 4K144Hz. More importantly, the DP interface is free of certification and authorization fees, while the HDMI interface is charged. It can be said that the Intel Arc graphics card's support for AV1 video codec and DP 2.0 is a forward-looking design and is future-oriented.
